Portugal is a small country on the very edge of Europe. Despite its modest size, you will have to come here more than once. And the point is not even in the huge number of attractions, but in the special atmosphere, once you feel that, you will want to return again and again.
1. RIDE ON THE TRAM No. 28
Without a doubt, the main attraction of Lisbon is the old tram number 28. It looks the same as almost 100 years ago, the modernization was insignificant. Its route begins on Campo Ourike and ends on Martim Monis Square. It is curious that this is not a sightseeing tram for sightseeing of the city (and there are many of them along its route: Saint-Georges castle, Santa Luzia observation deck and others), but a type of city transport. We had to hurry – we really wanted to finally get to know the ocean and, before visiting Cape Roca, lie on Praia Grande – one of the largest and most famous beaches near Lisbon. And he really turned out to be a “grandee.” The ocean generously gifted us with its assertive cool waves, and the shore with the most delicious pizza in the world (of course, according to the local waiter). True, I did not dare to swim there: this place is more suitable for strong surfers than for timid bathers.
Meanwhile, Cape Roca, familiar from the edge of the earth at a school geography course, was already waiting for us. On the one hand, this is another tourist attraction, and on the other, it’s a real place of power that no tourist with his selfie stick can level. I would be a poet, I would immediately write a poem or rap couplet, just by looking at how the ocean swallows the sun. Continue reading
It all started three years ago with a picture on Pinterest. I set up a “to visit” board there and with the thought “dreaming is not harmful” added a magical view of some Portuguese beach to it. It turned out, really, not harmful – so I dreamed up to the best vacation in my life.
As a result of long discussions, a preliminary plan was formed: in a couple of days to have time to say “Ola!” To Lisbon, take a look at the surroundings and move south, where a village house was waiting for us. And the ocean.
