Portugal – a country of unforgettable experiences

You can experience a real sense of envy for those people who are traveling for the first time to the country of snow-white buildings, excellent ocean beaches and the best summer climate in Europe – Portugal.

CHARMING ANTIQUE PORTUGAL
Some 120 years ago, Portugal was a real metropolis of the colossal colonial empire, which was not affected by the armed conflicts in Europe. And the last two world wars did not affect the western end of continental Europe. This explains the preserved medieval urban development and a huge number of ancient historical buildings.

Portugal by the ocean

Portugal by the ocean
Portugal has the longest ocean coast among European countries, suitable for a beach holiday. The sandy beaches of Portugal, covered with golden sand, are the standard for a comfortable summer and autumn vacation. In coastal waters, many underwater objects have survived for experienced and novice divers. Diving in Portugal annually gathers true underwater adventurers in secluded coastal corners.

Any city in Portugal is a testament to the medieval power of a country whose sailors were the first to visit India, travel around the world, and begin to sail the Africa-Brazil route. Thanks to the wealth of Portuguese merchants, the royal treasury and the Catholic Church grew rich from such trips. Because of this, castles, palaces, cathedrals and huge monasteries directed upwards were massively built in the country.

Fort Belem located at the mouth of the river, on the banks of which lies Lisbon. Built in 16th century, it carried the function of not only a defensive structure, but also a customs and quarantine post. It was his guns that threatened sailors returning from distant wanderings, forbidding the ship’s crew to enter the city until the doctor examined the ship. Now the fort is a symbol of Lisbon and its image is actively replicated.

The colorful Pena Palace, bright as a toy, was built in the 19th century by Portuguese kings, as a romantic residence, influenced by the famous castles of the Bavarian king. But due to a certain impoverishment, the Portuguese king saved by taking the empty monastery as the basis of his palace, the history of which dates back to the 12th century. The monastery itself in the 18th century was destroyed by an earthquake, and the church no longer restored it. But King Fernando II was far from superstition and a charming residence with a magnificent landscape park appeared on the hill dominating the surrounding countryside.
